There are some world famous LED Driving IC manufactures such as SONY ,TOSHIBA, MBI ,  TI , SITI, Supertex and so on, different manufactures produce different chips with different functions to meet customer’s different requirements, such as error detection, Current Gain ,Smart power saving ,dot correction ,low current, S-PWM, time-multiplexing, open detection, high gray scale, high refresh rate and so on.Ben did some research on it. 
I’d like to introduce MBI series to everybody due to its  high cost performance driving IC . For commercial advertising use, common items are MBI5024 or MBI5026 , they are both of low current and high precision, good for value. If customers want to pay less for electricity bill, MBI5035 can make it, because it is new in the market and is of low power consumption.
If customers need special functions such as error detection and Current Gain ,MBI5034, MBI5036 or MBI5039 are good options.
In the market,MBI5030,MBI5031,MBI5040,MBI5041,MBI5042 and MBI5050 belong to high-grade IC.  



MBI5030/MBI5031 have Low current S-PWM , MBI5040 have digital dot correction. MBI5041 and MBI5042 are of high refresh rate and high gray scale grade. MBI5050 owns SPWM technology to enhance utilization of LEDs ,slow down transmission speed to pass EMI test, obtain high refresh rate and high gray scale grade and so on. MBI5050 is the leader of all MBI series.   

It can be concluded that , MBI5024,5026 is widely used for common led display screens with good price. MBI5024 VS MBI5042.
 MBI5035 is strongly recommended for low power consumption LED advertising screens like billboards, LED video walls etc, it is new and outstanding in the market. MBI5041 and MBI5042 are suitable for sports screens, amusement screens, TV studio screens and etc which need very high refresh rate and high gray scale grade.  An LED display is a flat panel display, which uses light-emitting diodes as a video display. An LED panel is a small display, or a component of a larger display. They are typically used outdoors in store signs and billboards, and in recent years have also become commonly used in destination signs on public transport vehicles or even as part of transparent glass area. LED panels are sometimes used as form of lighting, for the purpose of general illumination, task lighting, or even stage lighting rather than display.
There are two types of LED panels: conventional (using discrete LEDs) and (SMD) panels. Most outdoor screens and some indoor screens are built around discrete LEDs, also known as individually mounted LEDs. A cluster of red, green, and blue diodes is driven together to form a full-color pixel, usually square in shape. These pixels are spaced evenly apart and are measured from center to center for absolute pixel resolution. The largest LED display in the world is over 500 meters long and is located in Suzhou, China, covering the Yuanrong Times Square. which is 160 × 72 ft (49 × 22 m), 11,520 square feet (1,070 m²).
Most indoor screens on the market are built using SMD technology —a trend that is now extending to the outdoor market. An SMD pixel consists of red, green, and blue diodes mounted in a single package, which is then mounted on the driver PC board. The individual diodes are smaller than a pinhead and are set very close together. The difference is that the maximum viewing distance is reduced by 25% from the discrete diode screen with the same resolution
Indoor use generally requires a screen that is based on SMD technology   . This will usually be more than sufficient for corporate and retail applications, but under high ambient-brightness conditions, higher brightness may be required for visibility. Fashion and auto shows are two examples of high-brightness stage lighting that may require higher LED brightness.  , the requirement will often be for lower brightness levels with lower  ;  which is much bluer than the common lighting on a television production set.
For outdoor use, at least 2,000 cd/m² is required for most situations, whereas higher-brightness types of up to 5,000 cd/m² cope even better with direct sunlight on the screen. (The brightness of LED panels can be reduced from the designed maximum, if required.)
Suitable locations for large display panels are identified by factors such as line of sight, local authority planning requirements (if the installation is to become semi-permanent), vehicular access (trucks carrying the screen, truck-mounted screens, or cranes), cable runs for power and video (accounting for both distance and health and safety requirements), power, suitability of the ground for the location of the screen (if there are no pipes, shallow drains, caves, or tunnels that may not be able to support heavy loads), and overhead obstructions.

Flat Panel LED Television Display

Possibly the first true all LED flat panel television screen was developed, demonstrated and documented by J. P. Mitchell in 1977. The modular, scalable display was initially designed with hundreds of MV50 LEDs and a newly available  memory addressing circuit from   The ¼ in thin flat panel prototype and the scientific paper were displayed at the 29th ISEF expo sponsored by the   Washington D.C. May 1978. The technical display received awards and recognition  Awards included and recognition from faculty and area Universities and the LED prototype remains operational. An  (liquid crystal display) matrix design was also cited in the LED paper as an alternative x-y scan technology and as a future alternate television display method. The replacement of the 70 year+ high-voltage analog system  with a digital x-y scan system has been significant. Displacement of the electromagnetic scan systems included the removal of inductive deflection, electron beam and color convergence circuits. The digital x-y scan system has helped the modern television to “collapse” into its current thin form factor.
In 1978, Mitchell also submitted his paper to the Westinghouse Science Talent Search contest, where he received an Honorable Mention.

The 1977 model was monochromatic by design. Efficient blue LEDs did not arrive for another decade. Large displays now use high-brightness diodes to generate a wide spectrum color palette. It took three decades and for Sony to introduce an LED TV: the OLED screen which was marketed in 2009.

LED text displays refer to types that are specialized and limited to display of alpha-numeric characters. Most types display either one character or a group of characters. One character is generally displayed by a matrix of LED’s, or by a matrix of segments.
Application-specific variations
Flashing LEDs are used as attention seeking indicators without requiring external electronics.
Flashing LEDs resemble standard LEDs but they contain an integrated multivibrator circuit
that causes the LED to flash with a typical period of one second.
In diffused lens LEDs this is visible as a small black dot. Most flashing LEDs emit light of one
color, but more sophisticated devices
can flash between multiple colors and even fade through a color sequence using RGB color mixing.
Bi-color LEDs are two different LED emitters in one case. There are two types of these.
One type consists of two dies connected to the same two leads antiparallel to each other.
Current flow in one direction emits one color, and current in the opposite direction
emits the other color. The other type consists of two dies with separate leads for both
dies and another lead for common anode or cathode, so that they can be controlled independently.
Tri-color LEDs are three different LED emitters in one case. Each emitter is connected to
a separate lead so they can be controlled independently.
A four-lead arrangement is typical with one common lead (anode or cathode) and an additional lead for each color.
RGB LEDs are Tri-color LEDs with red, green, and blue emitters, in general using a four-wire connection with one common lead (anode or cathode). These LEDs can have either
common positive or common negative leads.
Others however, have only two leads (positive and negative) and have a built in tiny electronic control unit.

And there must have many audiences, so good viewing angle is also very necessary.
The viewing angle should be wider than common used.
Entertainment LED display screen is suitable for the television studio and digital
stage background.Stage background LED display is one of the applications of
transparent curtain LED screen display, which has the features of light weight,
transparent screen with curtain, strips, mesh, net shape rather than solid or stereo,
usually big pixel pitch so cost-effective.
It’s usually used as outdoor and indoor stage background, backlight, back wall video
display, which can highlight remote image effect with bright and colorful light.
The commonly used pixel pitch is P10, P12, P14, P16, P20, P25, P31.25, P37.5
according to the customers’ demands.
